2025 Review

LOOKING BACK

2025 was a very special year in the history of the Dartmoor League - celebrating 25 years.

The development of the Dartmoor League is described elsewhere on the website and there were many occasions during 2025 when it was appropriate to reflect on that development and appreciate how very special it has become.

As always, the year starts with the CAPTAINS AND ORGANISERS AWAY DAY which, for the past few years, has been organised by Shaun Getson and Danny Brockington from Tavistock.  The event was hosted by Churston, the latest club to join the Dartmoor League.  How well that worked - Churston was able to showcase their club and become fully integrated with the League. The day was won by the Tavistock team, defending their victory from the previous year.

The SPRING TROPHY was held at Woodbury Park in April - a great day for DML.   3 pairs from each club - best two counting for the trophy.  Runners up were Dartmouth and Exeter each with 83 points and the winners with a fine score of 89 points were Bovey Castle.  Best pair, winning the Glenn Richards Memorial Trophy were Jamie Wilson & Tim Arnold from Bovey Castle.

On 4 May the 25th ANNIVERSARY team Challenge was a LAS VEGAS SCRAMBLE hosted by

Exeter.  Great fun, fantastic atmosphere all day.  Runners up Exeter with net 55.  Winners with net

52 Bovey Castle.

An enjoyable MIXED GREENSOMES day was held at Downes Crediton in June.  Enjoyed by all, runners up Honiton 78 points and winners Dainton Park with 81.

Another  popular competition in the calendar is the 4BALL TEAM  EVENT which was hosted by

Bovey Castle in June.  Everyone started in the dry - and then did it rain!!  Competition played over 9 holes.  Runners up Bovey Castle 47 points, winners Exeter 48 points.

Regrettably the Dartmoor Challenge Shield was cancelled due to poor weather.

The final of the very popular   KNOCK OUT CUP played through the summer was played at

Yelverton between Bovey Castle and Churston.   Bovey Castle were the winners.

DARTMOOR LEAGUE SUPPORTING HEARTS TOGETHER

The Dartmoor League has, for the first time, decided to support one particular charity.

The chosen charity is HEARTS TOGETHER which is Plymouth based.  Its purpose is to

provide overnight accommodation and breakfast for the families of dangerously or

terminally ill patients in Derriford.  We think this is a very worthy cause and, without

demanding your wallet at every opportunity, we will aim to raise monies on two or three

occasions throughout the year.
